Families Invited to Explore Opportunities at Sir Thomas Wharton Academy Open Evening

Families across Doncaster are invited to explore everything Sir Thomas Wharton Academy has to offer at its upcoming Year 5 and 6 Open Evening on Wednesday 30 September 2026.

The event will provide prospective students and their families with the opportunity to experience the academy's welcoming environment, meet staff and students, and discover the wide range of opportunities available.

Taking place at the academy on Tait Ave, New Edlington, Doncaster, DN12 1HH, the evening will include guided tours of department areas, opportunities to meet pastoral and inclusion teams, and the chance to speak with inspiring teachers and current students. Visitors will also learn more about the academy's academic curriculum, enrichment activities, personal development programme and commitment to student wellbeing.

Presentations from Principal Matt McDonald will take place at 5.30pm and 6.30pm, giving families valuable insight into the academy's vision and the support available to help every young person succeed.

Matt McDonald, Principal of Sir Thomas Wharton Academy, said:

"Choosing the right secondary school is one of the most important decisions families make, and our Open Evening is the perfect opportunity to see what makes Sir Thomas Wharton Academy such a special place to learn and grow. Visitors will have the chance to meet our dedicated staff, speak with current students and experience the ambitious, inclusive culture we have built. We are proud of the opportunities we provide and look forward to welcoming families from across the local community to see first-hand how we help every young person realise their potential."

The academy's theme for this year's event, ‘Who Will You Be?', reflects its belief that every child can achieve their ambitions, whether that is becoming a scientist, teacher, doctor, engineer, entrepreneur, artist or pursuing any other future pathway. The academy achieved an Exceptional OFSTED judgement for Personal development, and the report can be read here
